The Puppy chair was designed by Eero Aarnio in 2003 and produced exclusively by Magis. Inspired by a highly successful collaborative event in Miami, XTRA invited 12 artists in support of the Singapore Design Festival 2007, to customise Puppy for a charitable auction in aid of Action for Singapore Dogs (ASD).
“Catch” sees our imagined Puppy at play, leaping up to nip a giant frisbee from the air. Our Puppy is not a stray, as evidenced by its elegant collar formed by crossing a leather strip imprinted with our logo, to form an “X” as a subtle reminder of our collaboration with XTRA.
The steel tray frisbee is powder coated to withstand rust, ready to accompany Puppy and its master indoors and outdoors.
All 12 completed “puppies” were exhibited at XTRA (Park Mall) from 28 November to 8 December 2007, and thereafter at Page One VivoCity from 9 to 18 December 2007.
