GET IN TOUCHA collaboration between Bynd Artisan, Modular Unit, &Larry for an experimental
retail space at SingaPlural 2017, ‘Drawn from Our Own Device’ explores the connection between man and machine by investigating a coproduced drawing by both entities.
Visitors first purchase a notebook with a paper jacket specially designed by &Larry, featuring handwritten code used to program the device. After selecting a pen attachment (pen, marker or brush) for the machine arm, the visitor then draws on a glass top while cameras capture the strokes from below. The device then interprets the strokes, resulting in a harmonious expression of creativity in the form of an original drawing. Lastly, a craftsman folds the paper jacket with completed drawing into a cover for the notebook.
