GET IN TOUCH&Larry was invited to collaborate on “Sew Searching”, an exhibition by Sandy Ng (Cookie Cutter) and Yanda (donotdesign) that seeks to reject mass production.
Dolls have always fascinated us. They have the power to be your closest pals but at the same time, they can turn evil like voodoo dolls. So for the exhibition, we sought to create a doll that’s “Pretty Scary”. Inspired by Bob Dylan’s famous album, “Blonde on Blonde”, we planted a blonde bob wig on a figurine, creating the cliché horror image of a doll without a face. As a final flourish, we added over 700 yellow crystals by hand to achieve a darkly pretty effect.
Tests on both adults and children yielded the same horrified and intrigued expressions we had set out to achieve.
