Founded in 2005, &Larry is a design company based in Singapore whose practice is deeply rooted in creating empathic connections between people. We believe that design innovation should always serve the human interest. We hold a high regard for the intuitive use of data, research and technology in support of our creativity but are not limited by them.
We recognise the strengths of a collective mind. &Larry puts the name of the partners and clients before our own as a reminder to always step back and to see the bigger picture. We form partnerships that embrace a multi-disciplinary approach, and seek out ways to learn and grow together.
We seek to maintain the perfect balance between art and commerce, knowledge and instinct, technology and craft. Our methodology continuously evolves, adapts and hinges upon the human condition and economic sensibilities, creating solutions that thread through the changing patterns of our daily lives.
Larry Peh, Creative Director
Larry started his design career in 1997 at Men’s Folio, Singapore’s first men’s magazine. He honed his skills at Asylum and co-founded Neighbor Studio in 2001 before going independent with &Larry in 2005. He is also a Founder and Creative Director of menswear label Faculty.
In 2009, together with six other top creatives in Singapore, Larry co-founded The Design Society — a local non-profit design organisation. Larry was voted in 2012 by Perspective Global as one of the top 40 design talents under the age of 40 in Asia, and also featured in +81 Japan as one of the next generation of creatives in Asia.
Larry’s work has been internationally recognised with awards from D&AD (UK), One Show (New York), Tokyo Type Director’s Club, Singapore Creative Circle Awards, Singapore SPH iink Awards, and has been featured by renowned publishers including Wallpaper*, Taschen and Gestalten.
In 2014, Larry was conferred Designer of the Year at the President’s Design Award. This award is Singapore’s most prestigious design accolade, representing the pinnacle of recognition in the industry.
At the heart of how we work are four essential actions that help us gain a thorough understanding of our clients.
Discovering: the process of observing the current state and examining existing perceptions of a brand. By studying the market potential, strengths and weaknesses of brands, it allows us to delve deeper into existing issues and potential problems.
Defining: by setting the parameters, we are able to recommend strategic solutions that are led by a combination of design, empathy and critical thinking. This involves analysis, synthesis, ideation and validation.
Designing: a rigorous process that accords the relevant context by creating, developing and implementing brand messaging through various touch points.
Evolving: helping brands to stand the test of time and come into their own by evolving them organically while staying true to their essence.
Supporting these core four actions are a host of processes that include data visualisation, business strategies, brand innovation strategies, brand positioning recommendations, and qualitative and quantitative research.
It all comes together in creating a strong vision for a brand. We believe design innovation should always serve the human interest without undermining the relevance of what brands, clients and businesses want to achieve. This drives them towards a higher ideal that lies ahead of the times.
